Waiting For The Other Shoe To Drop

Charlotte Russe Cardi bargain bin $4.99 Charlotte Russe tiered chiffon mini dress $25. Ross Scarf. Splash Heeled Clogs circa 2004.

I love thin scarves. They can substitute for necklaces. And they still do the job of keeping my neck warm. I struggle with scarves all the time because they're normally too long and by the time I finish wrapping my neck with it, I look like I'm being love choked by a boa constrictor.

So I obsessively buy shoes because they all look like they're must-haves. Nevermind the fact that they go with absolutely nothing in my wardrobe, I still buy them because who knows, I might spy the perfect outfit that will go with it in the near future. But that is not the case with these clogs. I've had them for 5 years and never got around to wearing them till today. Thank goodness, they don't look too horribly passé. I'm not a contender for the person with most pair of shoes in my family, though. My sister, Yasmin has a roomful of shoes. It's like a shoe boutique. I tell you, I come by it honestly.

Kristina and Jane

Me, Klanky and Erin

Those are our second given names, probably unbeknownst to most people...I don't know what the hell we were both amused at but this photo turned out cute. I'm smiling at least...take that Tabitha! Hehehe...This is our second double frugal frox feature of Erin and I. Erin wears the cutest stuff at work but most of the time she wears not so frugal frox so her and her $90 tops don't make the cut ^_^ Erin is going to start designing a line of prints and greetings cards. How cool is that! Shameless plugging again for Erin's etsy shop! Go check her out and buy something! Click on her art print to view her shop...
Into The Woods by Erin McNulty

Anyway, enough of Erin since this is MY blog. My outfit today was totally inspired by a J-Crew kids catalog our friend-boss Teli brought to work. I'm going to be style her little girls for their photo shoot so that should be fun. I'll post them here soon. Kids clothes are so much more fun. Growing up sucks.

Two Layer Tart

F21 Heritage Hoodie $15. Mushroom Tank Next Era. Charlotte Russe Skirt Bargain at $4.Hydraulic Jeans, Steve Madden Boots.

I was thinking today, thanks to the miserable wet cold weather, it was going to be three layer day. Then I realized that my office has adequate heating so two layer it is.

I wanted to dress a little bit outrageous but I realized that I have to bring Funny Bunny (my car) to get an oil change at WalMart and I really don't want to get the attention of people because they will stare. Some people will just even stare because I look out of place...which I kind of am. The only place probably where I won't get stared at would be in Shibuya, Japan...everyone is strange. Where istrange is pretty much commonplace. That's my oxymoron for the day.

Don't Sweat the Short Stuff

F21 Knitted Sweater Coat Sale rack $8! Rue 21 Military Bib Shirt $15. L.E.I. shorts. Thrifted belt.Sweater legging Rue 21. Frye Boots. F21 and Rue 21 Necklaces circa

I forgot my memory card reader at work so I wasn't able to take photos on familiar grounds so here I am taking a quick photo at work. That blue fella who wanted to be in the picture is called Meep. He was designed by a good friend/colleague, Squeezy Peters. Her and I designed these line of characters for work. Mine are all on top and hers in the bottom. Pretty neat huh? My job is fun!

I got inspired to dress up in shorts and leggings like my fellow covenettes, Jesseca and Chaxmarion are infamous for. I hope my short legs can stand being quasi-exposed like this...

Top L to R: Lolly, Klanky, Snookie
Bottom Lto R: Meep, Mr. Fuzz, Bobble

Anthropologie: The Study of Overpriced Super Cute Clothes

Anthropologie Dress. HUE Red Leggings. Frye Boots.

I'm not frugal today. I could've bought several dresses with the money I spent on that one dress but it's totally cute, and prairie-like and it was screaming at me... "Buy me!" and my wallet was shedding tears...

I especially love dressing up on Fridays. I sometimes save my best week picks for Fridays. Fridays I also get to have lunch with my handsome boy, Thad so I gotta look especially worshipable. Hah!

So pumped for the Eisley gig this weekend I can't wait to see those lovelies.

I'm A Lumberjill

Flannel Shirt Fresh Brewed. Rue 21 Sweater. Gifted Skirt. Sweater Stocking Sock Dreams.

I maybe dressed like a lumberjack but I'm a closet tree hugger even though trees freak me out. Where I come from, we have superstitious beliefs about malevolent spirits that dwell in trees. In my native language, we literally call them "not like us". That's why you will never find me camping.

My charming little blue bird necklace is my little way of ushering spring. There was a serious bidding war for it so I decided to not join in the clash. The gods of poverty must be looking down on me kindly because the next day I found a seller who was selling it for $5.00 including shipping when the other ended up at $28. Yay!

Nessie On My Tee

Paris Blue Jeans $25.My Kayla Chucks. Furry Black Cat hat ebay.com

Ha!Ha! Those were the first two syllables that came out of my mouth when I beheld this shirt. When they printed this shirt they had me in mind. See closer view below. Nessie didn't appreciate the canards hanging out in his turf. He didn't hesitate to show them how he feels. Damn usurping duckies! or swans...whatever.

Ralph Lauren Cardi. Rue 21 shirt $8

Joyeaux Mardi Gras

Charlotte Russe Cardi.Rue 21 Top. Love Culture Belt $8.Paris Blues Jeans $24.Target Green Pumps $22. Perry Ellis Socks

I was gonna wear some other ensemble when Thad reminded me it was Mardi Gras today. So I ditched my planned wardrobe and I decided to wear a hideous color combination that only makes sense around these parts. Heliotrope. Xanthe. Veridian.

While the rest of the state is off, I am at work...chugging along. Not really into the whole parade thing. I've done it once for experience and that was enough. The scuffles people get into for cheap plastic beads is enough to keep me away.

Well, here's to gluttony and bacchanalia before fasting and self-flagellating. Happy Mardi Gras y'all!

I'm Smiling Inside

New York Company Sweater. F21 Heritage Vest $8 bargain score! Aubergine Leggings HUE $15. True Religion Mini Denim

My sister Yasmin always tells me I look mad all the time. I think this photo captured that. That is my natural face. I am beginning to agree with her. If you look a little bit longer, laser beams will start shooting off of my eyes. One of my bestfriends, Cezoralene is a smiler. She smiles for no apparent reason. The best smile was when she was about to carve Hazel's face off during Sculpting Class...ahhh good times Zor.

I had a wonderful Valentine's with my loverboy husband, Thad. I wish I had frugal froxed our outfits. We looked so cute (to the normal populace:weird), everyone was staring at us like we stepped out of Fruits Magazine ^_^

Fargone Fargo

Bear Skull Cap Delia's. Ashley Jacket. F21 Vest Bargain Bin. Old Navy Gray Sweater.Dollhouse Jeans.Frye Boots

Normally Gotham stays a little bit further to the side to where the camera can't capture him but today, my handsome dog wanted to be in the photo. Teehee... so adorably regal.

We have snow! All 0.25 inch of it! Almost a good reason to dress up all Fargo-like. Where's my woodchipper...

Chillin' like a...well, you know.

Heritage F21 Knitted Long Coat. Paris Blues Jeans. Rue 21 Sweater. Steve Madden Boots.Thrifted Belt.

I love wearing long coats. It gives me that whole villainy flair. Whenever I wear them I mentally say things like "Take them to the dungeon!" or "No one is coming to rescue you, my pretty..." followed by maniacal chortles.

This long coat is thin enough for 11th hour escapes but warm enough for when I am exiled to Siberia for my nefarious plots. I love being bundled up every now and then but some days no matter how arctic for me, still call for thin but warm blizzard wear. Speaking of which, we might get snow or some semblance of it this weekend...and I am just going to lament the fact that I let a pair of Fluevog snow boots escape my clutches.

Bundled Up In Hue

Rue 21 Red Corduroy Down Jacket. Embroidered Mandarin Vest H&M.Hydraulic Jeans.Tent Sweater Derek Heart.Wear It Declare It Thermal. Frye Boots

Bundled up in joy, can you tell? That's four layers of clothing. This is probably one of my favorite mixes and color combination. I love that vest. It's a staple to me, how can it not be, it just screams folkloric!

Thad in his London Fog jacket, giving me warm kisses to brave the cold is part of the ensemble. Somehow we look like an anime couple. Kyaaa!!!He's bending too low and me tilting my head too high because I'm too short and chibi-like. Feeling all warm and fuzzy now ^_^

Crappy Chiaroscuro

Vintage Blouse ebay.Michael Star Sweater gifted by Squeezy Peters. Delias Jeans.Vintage lace up boots. Love Culture Belt. F21 necklace

I suck at speed photography. Not a whole lot of good shots come out when I am in a hurry. This is actually the best out of the crappy bunch. Lighting is poor but you get the general idea of what I have on. I have worn that belt before in my past post titled Teal Me Something.

Print detail on blouse. Elephant ring from Rue 21

Trying to recover from an allergy attack is not as bad as trying to shake off the remnants of sleep brought to you by Benadryl or Valium both efficacious in bringing about the Sandman in 6 seconds flat. My hypothalamus seems to create a force field when I take Loretab though because I'd be up all night. I think I'm falling asleep again. Maybe I am sleep typing.

The Incredible Shrinking Sweater

That Merona wool sweater says LARGE on the tag but me, the absent minded laundress shrunk it in the dryer. Thad chuckled when he handed it to me saying it was rightfully mine now. I've always wanted a brown argyle sweater and by stroke of stupidity, I gained one. I'm wearing my trade badge :-) the artist palette brooch. I love it so much! Ms. Marilyn gifted me that. The paints are all gem stones. Oh and the Saints won! Wooot! I wasn't following the game because I was watching my anime but I knew they won the minute the fireworks started and in a span of about 2 minutes, there was a full blown mini block party in my neighborhood. I can't help but feel celebratory. So yay!

Thad bought me my new scent last Saturday. Daisy by Marc Jacobs silver edition!!! I'm feeling kind of spoiled. Thank you, bibikeef!

This Is What Brown Is Doing For Me

Cardigan F21. Paris Blues Jeans $24.Nine West Boots.Brown Top gifted.Necklace Gadzooks. Bracelets Ayala Mall Cebu

I'm just going to pretend you miss me for the past two days :-P Work has been keerazy and I haven't been feeling too good and it shows on the kind of clothes I wear. Also, I'm not too inspired to do anything fun when I'm (wanting to be) convalescent. I've had that necklace for 3 years but this is the first time I've worn it because I couldn't find anything to go with it. Moral of the story, hold on to that coral pink cardigan.
There's a lot of hoopla going on about the Saints game this Sunday. So indifferent to it that I just learned that is when it's going to be. Somebody at work commented "Poor girl..." when I asked them when the game was and I mildly retorted "No, I'm fine, really." I don't hate the game or the team, I just couldn't care less and just because they're going to the Superbowl doesn't mean I have to jump in the bandwagon and become an instant fan. I don't poser much. But I'm happy for the Saints. I hope they win. If not, I'd still be watching anime...and nobody cares about that. ^_^

Bloomsbury Belle

And it is cold again...No one really knows what weather Louisiana decides to have. The weather report is a myth. That's why I can never plan my wardrobe ahead except for this coat. The only reason I was looking forward to Monday was this coat. It was a long overdue project that I finally finished that I now got to wear :D The coat was too plain Jane so I appliqued the flowery print corduroy bib on it.

The hat, and pardon me for the crappy photo is a granny square hat I designed myself and had someone from etsy.com make for me. I am totally in love with that hat...so much that I have another one made in different coloration.

I decided to title this after the Group who did nothing but wrote poetry and had affairs with each other. It has nothing to do with my wardrobe except that there's flowers on my chest and head :-)
